Celtic fiddling champion
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

Fresh from Edinburgh's Scots Fiddle Festival, where they were the first American band ever invited to perform, dynamic fiddler Jamie Laval and his Seattle-based acoustic trio present the subtle, expressive style of Celtic music for which Jamie is known. Winner of the 2002 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship, Jamie infuses the rich traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, and Brittany with a vigorous and passionate energy, ably supported by Hannsjoerg Scheid on guitar and Jon Hamar on bass.

Jamie's music, born out of his Scottish and Irish roots, is also informed by his time spent playing with classical, jazz, and folk music groups. Besides performing with his trio and at Seattle area contra dances, Jamie composes and records soundtracks for film and television (his trio's sound may be familiar from the theme song for the family TV drama "Everwood"). Tonight's performance features numbers from Jamie's recent album, Shades of Green, brand new gems, and plenty of kilt jokes, too.
