A triple bill of local singer-songwriters: Just what the doctor ordered! Dr. K, that is, bringing his monthly dose of local talent to our stage for a great evening's entertainment.
A unique fellow indeed, J.L. Stiles brings together two disparate fields of truth-seeking: ragtime blues and higher mathematics. More than a guitar fingerpicker/singer-songwriter with a penchant for early 1920's blues, J.L. is also the possessor of an acute and highly trained mathematical brain who approaches his 12-string guitar with a passionate search for fundamental principals and maximum algorithmic potential. And he writes great songs, too!
As warm and engaging a performer as you're ever likely to meet, Dana Hubbard is a singer and storyteller as well as a mighty fine harmonica and guitar player. He has won songwriter showcases and acoustic blues competitions too numerous to list here with his fine playing and his songs that address issues of environmentalism and social injustice in a voice that sometimes growls, sometimes lilts or laughs, but always keeps a twinkle in the eye.
Amanda West began performing at age 15 at the Freight open mics; tonight, she returns to our stage as a full-fledged folk songstress, with a beautiful voice and considerable multi-instrumental skills backing her engaging songs.
