Mavis Staples (born July 10, 1939, Chicago, Illinois, USA) is an American gospel, R&B and soul singer and civil rights activist. She has recorded and performed with her family's band The Staple Singers, and also as a solo artist. She is the daughter of Pops Staples and sister of Cleotha Staples, Pervis Staples and Yvonne Staples.
Proceeds from the evening will help the Freight bring you the best in roots and traditional music
