Kids at the Freight
José-Luis Orozco, Saturday, June 18 (11AM)
Kids at the Freight is supported in part through a generous grant from the Bill Graham Supporting Foundation of the Jewish Community Endowment Fund.
Now in its nineteenth year, fiddlekids is a unique, fun-filled summer day camp devoted to traditional fiddle music. We welcome young violin students and fiddlers, ages 7 to 15, with at least one year of playing experience. No previous fiddling is required. Camp is divided into skill-based groups of roughly 15 fiddlers, and each child attends classes with three of the camp's fiddle instructors.
Canary Kids: Intro to Singing and Songwriting With Melanie Ida Chopko
Mondays in June starting 6/6, 4:30-5:30
$100 plus a one-time $20 materials fee
For all the kids who hum in class and learn every word to "Let It Go" - This is a place where all their sounds are welcome! As a group we'll find our voices with techniques and body movements, and build confidence as we sing popular songs and grow into strong, expressive singers. We'll also play songwriting games to create your first song! The series will lead up to seasonal group performances to celebrate music as a community and cultivate our presence as performers. Taught by former Little Folkies instructor, Melanie Ida Chopko.
On Thursday mornings the Freight hosts Little Folkies song circles for kids ages 0-5 and their grownups.
Listen to sample tracks from upcoming artists.
