Listen for Life Benefit ConcertPurchase tickets online
November 15 8:00 pm
Join us for an evening of aloha as a fabulous lineup of artists fills the Freight with music and hula from the islands of Hawai`i. A special fundraiser for Listen for Life, this show is guaranteed to transport one and all with melodious songs, swaying dancers, and all the warmth of an island breeze. Many of Northern California's finest Hawaiian musicians are on the bill, including slack key guitar wizard and vocalist Patrick Landeza, multi-instrumentalist and hula master Kawika Alfiche, Hawaii Music Award Winner Faith Ako, `ukulele maestro Hiram Bell, falsetto vocalist Steven Espaniola, and vocal/guitar duo Pulama. Two special world music guests add a further dimension to the evening, scalloped fretboard guitarist Matthew Montfort and Emmy Award-winning dan tranh (Vietnamese zither) artist Vanessa Vo.
For more than 13 years Listen for Life has produced events all over the world—from single concerts to massive music festivals—with resounding success, using music to increase awareness of important issues or raise funds for worthy causes. Tonight’s musicians are donating their performances in support of a “round-the-world” benefit that Listen for Life is producing at Carnegie Hall next January, which will bring our deserving Bay Area-based artists to national attention. Hope to see you at the show!
