$75.00

Together, Mike Marshall and Caterina Lichtenberg represent a vast trove of knowledge covering the entire history of the mandolin as well as a broad world view of the instrument today. Students will spend a full 1 1/2 hours with each of these master mandolinists. Mike will focus on technique, harmony and improvisation in the styles for which he is famous: bluegrass, swing, Brazilian choro and new acoustic music. As the mandolin professor at the University of Cologne in Germany, Caterina brings her wealth of knowledge of baroque, classical, and romantic mandolin techniques, repertoire, and history.

* Music reading skills will be helpful but will not be a must, as tab will be provided for most music that is presented. All levels welcome!

Mike Marshall has been at the vanguard of acoustic music making in a variety of styles for over 30 years. As the founder of the Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz, California, Mike has developed his teaching techniques and communication skills and will break down his mandolin playing into simple digestible parts. Caterina Lichtenberg is the professor of mandolin at the University of Cologne in Wuppertal, Germany. She has recorded over 10 CDs of classical mandolin in a variety of chamber music settings, and has been touring the world for over 20 years. She is a master of classical mandolin from Baroque to Classical, Romantic to Modern, knowing as much about the history of our instrument as anyone in the world today. Her technique on the instrument is unparalleled and her communication skills and ability to teach any level of student is a joy.
