Born in east Texas, Michelle first gained widespread fame (or infamy) with her 1988 album, Short Sharp Shocked. A sharply observant, politically outspoken, supremely self-assured singer-songwriter, Michelle went on to explore various branches of americana music, releasing a number of albums, each with something surprising and unique to offer. From her visit to old time string band music (Arkansas Traveler, 1994) to her more recent journeys into the heart's depths (Soul of My Soul, 2009) this erudite roots rocker stands strong for what she believes in and calls attention to political and social causes with her impassioned performances.
