Greg Brown
Bo Ramsey opensFriday, January 29, 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:00 pm) contemporary folk poet laureate WE ARE SOLD OUT OF ADVANCE TICKETS FOR THIS SHOW January 29 8:00 pm
Modern troubador Greg Brown combines down home roots with a poet's sensibilities, his gruff, expressive voice filling his songs with gritty romanticism, sardonic humor, bluesy melodicism, and disarming honesty. Raised by an electric guitar-playing mother and a Holy Roller preacher in Hacklebarney, Iowa, Greg rambled throughout the U.S., running the hootenannies at New York's legendary Gerdes Folk City, working in bands in California and Nevada, and writing songs for R&B legend Buck Ram, before returning to his native state.
Bo Ramsey opens the night and then joins Greg on guitar accompaniment. Listen to a track from Greg Brown: [audio]481[/audio]
