Rosie originally rose to public attention in southern California, where she formed the punk/rockabilly band the Screaming Sirens in the late 1970s, and was an integral part of Los Angeles' New Traditionalist scene that gave rise to Dwight Yoakum and Los Lobos. A highly respected, independent-minded artist with a mean touch on the guitar, she has continued to be a major figure in alternative country and rockabilly scenes in both Los Angeles and Austin, where she currently resides (and where she's got her own day, Rosie Flores Day, in August). Rosie's latest CD is Girl of the Century (Bloodshot), but you have to see her live! Listen to a track from Rosie Flores:
