Pianist, Organist, Composer, and Arranger Tammy Lynne Hall is one of the most in-demand musicians in the Bay Area.
Tammy began playing piano at age four and Tammy's innate ability became more apparent she honed her skill with private piano lessons for the next 15 years. In tandem with the great musical foundation of the Southern Baptist tradition, Tammy studied classical music, excelled as a violinist and was a choir accompanist on the piano and organ.
Her great appreciation for all good music and her exposure to the countless, diverse genres of music, as well as her prodigious accompanist skills make her a top choice for such vocalists as: Kim Nalley, Denise Perrier, Holly Near, Rhonda Benin, Veronica Klaus, Pamela Rose, Debbie DeCoudreaux, Darlene Love, Melba Moore, Ernestine Anderson, Queen Esther Marrow, Little Jimmy Scott, Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, Lady Mem'fis, Mary Wilson, Lisa Ferraro and Erika Luckett, Lea DeLaria, Liza Silva and the late, great Etta Jones, violinists Regina Carter, Jeremy Cohen and Mads Tolling, tenor sax greats Houston Person and the late David 'Fathead' Newman.
Her own compositions reflect an ongoing aspiration to reveal her own soul and best voice to the listening audience. Stylistically, Tammy Hall is equally gifted in Classical, Gospel, Jazz, Brazilian, Salsa and Funk. Her major influences include Tania Maria, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Mary Lou Williams, Dorothy Donnegan, Joe Sample, Gene Harris and Thelonious Monk. Like her influences, Tammy brings virtuosity to the piano that is never ostentatious, and her approach to the music is always genuine and fresh.
"...a musician who has much to offer in the way of originality, fine technique and a rich, emotional quality that is evident on everything she does. Her playing is warm and persuasive and a listener's delight." - Marian McPartland, Piano Jazz 2007
