It is said the deeper a tree's roots run, the taller it can grow. For siblings Erika, Rachel, and Chloe Tietjen of the T SISTERS, their roots as songwriters are buried in a narrative of family and sisterhood, and if their debut, KINDRED LINES, is any indication, the sky is the only limit for these Bay Area sisters.

California born and raised, the Tietjens have been singing together their whole lives. "We sang together when we were little, making up songs and writing plays together in the attic of our grandparents' house," says the trio. "Our parents were dancers and our father is a musician, so rhythm and movement were a constant backdrop for our experience of music." Staging original music theater productions together in college inspired Erika, Rachel and Chloe to write and arrange their own music, leading to the T Sisters.

Misner & Smith
Misner & Smith
Soaring vocal harmonies and story-filled, poetic songwriting - Misner & Smith's sound harkens back to the bedrock of modern american rock & folk. With two singers who could easily lead a band on their own, Sam and Megan produce a sound that is one voice, seducing listeners with music that captures longing and belonging in the same moment. The songs yearn for connection, ache for understanding, relish in mystery, and rejoice in creation, all centered around a vocal blend that is the definition of "more than the sum of its parts". In a world that often feels to be crumbling down around us, they dig deep, and find hope in simple things, in the beauty that surrounds us all. Paying tribute to strong influences like Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, and Buffalo Springfield, they invent a sound all their own.

They have released four albums of original music, and this special show will be a CD release party, celebrating the release of their brand new record, Headwaters, a collection of cover songs by several of the duo's biggest influences. They will be playing several of the songs off of Headwaters but will be playing plenty of their beloved original music, as well as debuting a few new songs along the way. They will also be introducing their new full band lineup, adding Josh Yenne on pedal steel and electric guitar, and Joe Shotwell on drums. The music remains rooted in vocal harmonies and lyrics, but with the additional instrumentation the songs take on an even deeper life, showcasing the wide and diverse spectrum of sound and genres that Misner & Smith have been exploring all along.
