"Ostrow's original compositions are dynamic, passionate, and gorgeous" - East Bay Express

“A wonderful, young, and inspired musician with great drive. Given that he had to taken on a cancer diagnosis at a very young age, he dealt with it with immense maturity. He has a unique voice and I'm excited to hear what is to come!” - Julian Pollack (Grace Kelly, Michael League, Ari Hoenig)

Ethan Ostrow is a Jazz pianist, composer, and vocalist from Berkeley. He has been featured at top venues throughout the Bay Area such as Yoshi's, the Freight & Salvage, and the UC Theater. Having led a double-life as an actor for many years, Ethan understands the power of storytelling, and brings it to his music every performance. Ethan has won numerous awards for his compositions and musicianship at Jazz festivals across the West Coast.

In January of 2017, Ethan finished treatment for stage-4 cancer, and was pronounced in remission. In the hospital, he focused heavily on writing and playing music. Ethan approached the Freight & Salvage with the idea of hosting a benefit concert for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society (LLS), featuring his trio, playing compositions he had written throughout the year. In June of 2017, he sold out the Freight, and raised over $22,000 for the cause. July will mark Ethan’s second annual benefit for the LLS!

An album of Ethan's live and studio recordings was released in February 2018, and is available for purchase on Bandcamp. All profits are being donated to the LLS.

Ethan will be attending the Manhattan School of Music this Fall, where he will continue his studies with Alan Broadbent, and Jeremy Manasia. He recently finished a stint in Minneapolis, playing with and learning from Phil Hey (Dewey Redman) and Dean Sorenson (Glenn Miller Orchestra, Frank Sinatra). Ethan is currently studying with Bay Area legend Susan Muscarella. He is thrilled to be sharing the stage this July with two of his lifelong friends from Berkeley High’s renowned Jazz Ensemble.

Musicians: Ethan Ostrow (Piano), Max Schwartz (Bass), Pele Greenberg (Drums), featuring special guests!
