What is Jewish Music?
Is there such a term ‘Jewish Music’? What are the requirements for belonging to this sub genre?
Within the plethora of artists inspired by Jewish Music, we can find artists as diverse as Yemen Blues & Ravid Kahalani, Yasmin Levi, Andy Statman and many more. What are their secrets to success in creation of great collections of albums, songs, repertoire?

In this lecture-demonstration we are likely to address:
1. How melodies are being based off ‘Jewish Modes’
2. How rhythms follow North African, East European patterns
3. How harmony is being constructed for further unique, ‘ethnic’ feel

We will try to identify some Jewish scales and modes: Ahava Raba, Misheberach etc. We will talk about how a sense of form is developed: Sher, Niggun. We will talk about rhythms: Debka, Hora etc. We will talk about the textual elements, literary influences, and religious aspects.
