Fingerstyle Chord-Melody Guitar
Come learn beautiful fingerstyle chord-melody tunes, in which you simultaneously play both melody and chordal accompaniment! We'll begin with easy examples, and study the technique that makes chord-melody playing sound good. We'll also study the music theory underlying our tunes.

Topics include right-hand technique; groove analysis and creation; fills, riffs, and ornamentation; rhythm training; theory of chord construction; chord function analysis; fretboard knowledge.

Classroom Activities include learning fingerstyle tunes; rhythm training exercises; finger dexterity enhancers; demonstration; explanation.

Prerequisites:
Intermediate-level patterned finger picking ability; Ability to play barre chords; Ability to read guitar tablature; Openness to learning music theory; Willingness to improve music counting ability.

To every class, please bring a pencil, and a nylon or steel string acoustic guitar.

Course Materials Fee of $15 will be collected at first class meeting.
