Learn a new instrument and hit the ground running!

Want to learn a new instrument this new year? Already have an uke but need a little boost to get started?

Hit the ground running with YouTube sensation Cynthia Lin's Ukulele 101 Bootcamp for Beginners. This 2-hour workshop is ideal for those who have already tried to learn online but need some in-person pointers, or for those who want a push and enjoy a little musical challenge.

Am I ready for bootcamp?

No pre-requisites, some musical background helpful.

Absolute beginners are welcome, but remember, this is bootcamp! Some familiarity with ukulele (or another musical instrument) will be helpful, as we will move fast. A good attitude and a willingness to try will get you far (in life and in uke!).

What you need:

- Ukulele. Bring your own uke, already tuned up, or arrange with sfukuleleclasses@gmail.com to rent one for the day.

- Song Book. Every ticket purchased includes a digital copy of our Song Book. We also have beautifully designed, bound Song Books that you can purchase for a discounted rate with your ticket or at the event (if we don't run out first!). We'll also project the Song Book onscreen, and you're welcome to bring a music stand to hold your Song Book, printout, or digital device.

The bootcamp:

Show up with time to spare to get settled in before the class starts. Coffee, soft drinks, wine & beer are for sale, and we'll have some merch too.

We'll walk through the basics together first: how to tune, how to hold, how to strum, how to read chord diagrams and chord charts, how to change chords.

Then we'll begin learning to play with Lesson 1: Three Little Birds (see video playlist of all my lessons here), and move through Lessons 2-4 to build up to learning the most important ukulele strum, the Island Strum. The goal is to end the Bootcamp with Lesson 5: Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Cynthia and her teachers-in-training will go around the room and give individual pointers and corrections, focusing on good hand positions and strumming techniques that are hard to learn on your own at home.

You will leave exhausted but elated - your ukulele adventure is just beginning! Go home and practice with Cynthia's videos, or look up chord charts for your favorite songs.

Hope to see you there!
