Bill Monroe Birthday Celebration
Bill Monroe Birthday Celebration
Bill Monroe, widely acclaimed as the Father of Bluegrass Music, was born in Rosine, KY, on September 13, 1911. His powerful mix of rural blues, swing, old-time mountain songs and tunes, and on-fire mandolin-playing grabbed the ears of people around the World. Some of the people who have been most affected by his musical vision here in the Bay Area will join together to celebrate the man and his music. We'll share stories, sing songs from Monroe's varied repertoire, and celebrate the difference that his music has made on our lives. This tradition began nine years ago, as a one-time event, and has been so much fun that Laurie Lewis has continued to curate the show every year since.
